If you’ve spent several months desperately trying to piece together every clue and clue regarding the plot of Jordan Peele‘s horror feature nope, then don’t worry – you were definitely not alone. As it turned out, it wasn’t just the decorated ones who did this Go out The director refuses to release spoilers to the horror-loving masses, but Peele even kept the film’s entire cast out of the game.

While chatting with The Playlist, star Keke Palmer perfectly described the process Peele undertakes to prevent every single cast member finding out spoilers for their projects. “But I love that you never ruined the movie for your actors. That’s really classy and I don’t know how you do it,” Palmer said truthfully to Peele.

In response, the 43-year-old director expressed her shock at Palmer’s comments, prompting her to express her appreciation for the whole process. It is undoubtedly the work of pure genius, and as Palmer himself puts it, it is a “crazy” bold strategy. Palmer explained:

You don’t ruin the movies for us. As you tell us what we need to know about your directing. The way you run the whole thing, but you’re just letting us know what we need to know to get the performance we need. So when I watch the film I see it like a viewer because I don’t really know what it all means because you didn’t tell me. You just told me what I needed to know. It’s really crazy. So, hearing you say that, I think I appreciate that you didn’t ruin the movie for me.

In all honesty, Peele’s closed-loop approach is certainly a commendable act, effectively keeping the actors involved on their toes — and, as Palmer explained, allowing the stars to relate perfectly to the general audience. Perhaps other filmmakers will borrow Peele’s techniques in the future, but for now, the horror writer is keeping his lips shut.

nope will be available on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD on October 25th, 2022, with a streaming release for Peacock on November 18th.
