LAGUNA NIGUEL (CNS) — A suspect was arrested Saturday for allegedly threatening to set off a blast at the Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo Metrolink station, authorities said.

The suspect was taken into custody by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department around 1:30 p.m., according to spokeswoman Carrie Braun.

While at the police station at 28200 Forbes Road, the suspect called authorities at around 8:30am to say he planned to cause “deliberate damage” at the location, prompting a reaction from MPs, one SWAT team and a bomb squad led and the Orange County Fire Authority, Braun said.

The station has been closed and about five shops nearby have also been closed as a precaution, she said.

It was initially not clear whether incendiary devices had been found.
